Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship- The sun has just set in these local woods and nature's nightlife is just waking up.
I am all bundled up and ready to go exploring and seeing what's out here and I'm glad that you decided to come along with me.
Let's go.
Oh, I see a tree with some bark.
I love this because all kinds of animals will hide right under this bark.
Let's see what we can find.
(laughs) This is super cool.
I just found this nursery web spider hiding under the bark for winter but it's warm enough tonight that she feels comfortable to move around and explore.
Just check her out.
(motor rumbling) She isn't trying to bite me.
Spiders are mostly harmless to us.
She probably just likes my warm hand.
Let's release her so that she can go back to hiding.
See you in the spring, my friend.
Let's see what else we can find.
(footsteps grinding) It is super fun to walk out here.
Hearing the snow crunch under my feet.
Oh, I wonder what else we're going to find up here.
(owl hooting) Oh, could you hear that?
Hi, we got a bird out.
Winter is when they are most active singing and starting a family.
I always feel like those dark eyes can peer into my soul like they know all of my secrets.
Everything about me.
Wow.
I protect these woods for you little fella.
(footsteps grinding) Wow.
This is cool.
We got some kitty cat tracks going right through there.
That's typically what we would find in a neighborhood.
And then we got some rabbit tracks right here where a little bunny rabbit was hopping around these woods.
So cool.
(footsteps grinding) Oh, that was fun.
Thanks for coming along.
Now what will you find on your winter hike?
Remember to tell an adult and to make sure that you're allowed.
Some parks will close at dark.
Have fun exploring.
