Helen Kaltman was born in Poland and her family escaped to Russia during the war, but the Russians thought her father was a spy. They were sent to Siberia before escaping to Uzbekistan. After the war, they ended up in Israel, where she met her husband, Simon. Simon, his brothers and his father survived Dachau and Auschwitz, but his mother and two sisters were killed.
